SBC MEETING JUNE 2007

Surrey Business Club and Guildford Ecademy collaborated to hold the Club's June meeting in and around the village of Peaslake in the beautiful Surrey Hills. This was a networking event with a difference as around 20 members and guests started off with a Netwalk.

Under the 'guidance' of Tom Evans of Shere Solutions, the Netwalk took us up the gently sloping hills around the Hurtwood Inn Hotel where we were based. We should mention that amongst our number was Jon Hamilton-Fford who took part in his electric wheelchair, assisted on the odd occasion by wife Jean and others when the odd boggy patch was encountered.

Helped also by the pleasant summer evening, we chatted our way to the top where at Holmbury Hill viewpoint we stopped to enjoy the beautiful views across the countryside. See what you missed!

As you can imagine, we then did exactly the same on the way down, allowing us to talk to others we had missed previously, arriving back at the Inn about 90 minutes after we left.

We were then able to relax over a drink and enjoy the splendid sit-down buffet.

Part Two...

The second half of the evening then gradually took shape with a session of more 'collaboration'. Encouraged by Tom, we each completed a simple form about our businesses, aims and obstacles. These were then circulated for others to write their suggestions about how to achieve our aims or overcome perceived obstacles.

We were then encouraged to take part in a session of Blatant Plugs. Normally networking tends to be more subtle, but there comes a time when one would like to say what needs saying and this was such an occasion! So several people grasped the opportunity and here are the results:
