SBC DECEMBER 2006 MEETING

SBC MEETING REPORT DECEMBER 2006

In recent years we have taken to holding the Surrey Business Club AGM in December before the Christmas Quiz Party, because AGMs of themselves have limited appeal, and at least this way we get a decent attendance.

This year, Chairman Keith Grover asked outgoing Club Secretary Phil Jones to conduct the AGM, because Phil knows how to do these things properly! As a result, whilst we didn’t break the record for the shortest ever AGM (currently standing at eight minutes) we did get through the agenda in double quick time, before moving on to the scoffing, quaffing and quizzing.

There was a considerable amount of silly behaviour and hilarity, as teams struggled with Keith’s lateral thinking ‘Tube Menagerie’ game. Most people didn’t have much of a clue how it was supposed to work (including the quiz master), but there were plenty of inventive answers – some of them unprintable! There was a pub-style quiz too, and some cringeworthy cracker jokes.

The prizes were fantastic – including six bottles of quality wine, poinsettias, liqueur chocolates, shortbread and lots of daft ones too (the Robbie Williams karaoke DVD anyone?) The pictures tell the story, with lots of artistic portrait-style close ups among the silly hatted ones from Peter, the Club’s pro photographer - so click on slide show, and enjoy…
